The most important thing when painting a ceiling is not the color or the sheen though both are obviously important, it is observing where the light crosses the ceiling. Stand in the doorway to the room with the windows uncovered to let the light in and make mental notes of the direction of the light.

When rolling on the paint ensure you are rolling across the light, this may seem counterintuitive as most people think the proper way to paint is rolling the same direction across the room. Stand directly underneath where we are painting and apply even pressure. Be sure to overlap roller paths for an even coat, wait a day or two and paint it again.

Pro Tip: Sherwin Williams sell microfiber roller pads(white with a green stripe), these are splatter free if you pay attention. When you hear the pad start to make sticky noise it is time for more paint.

Your finished result will look fabulous!
