Rent is Winning the Battle
The Port of Walla Walla and Eastern Washington University have compiled all sorts of economic data on Walla Walla County, making it available through Walla Walla County Trends. It shows a sobering picture of what is happening in our housing market and begs the question: What will we do when the people who work in Walla Walla can’t afford to live in Walla Walla? They won’t be commuting on the soon to be completed Highway 12, it costs the about the same to live here as it does in Tri-Cities.

The cost to live in Walla Walla has more than doubled since 2008. Meanwhile the number of jobs offering to pay these amounts has not increased.
