Cory Mills Assault Allegations: A Scandal of Power and Inaction

Florida Republican Congressman Cory Mills is facing serious allegations after D.C. police issued an arrest warrant for allegedly assaulting a woman. The victim, 27-year-old Sarah Raviani, is an Iranian-American activist and co-founder of Iranians for Trump. Despite the warrant, the U.S. Attorney’s Office has not taken action, raising concerns about political favoritism.

The alleged assault happened on February 19, 2025, in Mills’ D.C. apartment. Raviani initially accused Mills—her partner of over a year—of physically attacking her, leaving visible bruises. Later, she changed her story, saying the injuries were from medical conditions and other activities. Despite this, police found enough evidence to issue a warrant.

Mills is married to Rana Al Saadi, an Iraqi refugee-turned-U.S. citizen, with whom he has two children. His affair with Raviani, combined with the assault allegations, has sparked public outrage. His wife has not commented, but the scandal is damaging his reputation.

Mills denies the accusations, calling them false and politically motivated. He insists he will be cleared and has hired a legal team to fight the case. Meanwhile, the U.S. Attorney’s Office’s refusal to act on the warrant is fueling suspicions of political protection.

The MPD’s response has also been questioned. Officers didn’t arrest Mills at the scene, which is unusual when injuries are visible in domestic violence cases. They later issued a warrant, but it remains stalled, prompting an internal review of the department’s handling of the case.

Critics argue that if Mills were an average citizen, he would already be in custody. The delay raises concerns about how power shields politicians from consequences. Public pressure is growing for an independent review, and watchdog groups are demanding answers.

Republican lawmakers have largely stayed silent. Some allies defend Mills, calling the accusations overblown or politically driven. Others are reportedly worried about how the scandal will affect the party, especially among women and minority voters.

Democrats are calling for immediate action, arguing that delaying the warrant undermines public trust in the justice system. Some are pushing for congressional inquiries into whether political interference is protecting Mills.

If the U.S. Attorney’s Office continues to stall, public outrage could force them to act. Mills’ political future is now uncertain as he faces both legal trouble and backlash within his party.

This case highlights how power and influence can interfere with justice. Whether Mills is charged or not, the situation exposes the reality that political connections often determine who is held accountable—and who isn’t.
